Valessa is a years long collaboration between artists Val Denham and Vanessa Sinclair. Rooted deeply in the disruptive cut-up approaches and reverence for random revelations, both artists have respectively built a large body of work celebrating transcendences and transgressions in collage, poetry, painting, photography, music, and any and all kinds of composites. The artists have now joined forces in the project Valessa. Working with and on the very same visual artworks, each artist has left her undeniable signature in both style and content.
Many of the textual cut-ups integrated in their collages and paintings have been transcribed, and there are also unique written pieces for this project. Valessa is a magical tour de force of the active imagination and beyond – an epiphanic insight into the unconscious ”third mind” (as defined by William Burroughs and Brion Gysin) and how it can express itself in most peculiar – and delightful – ways.
This 200 page book contains over sixty four-color reproductions of the Valessa artworks, plus photographs and images of other visual collaborations, plus almost a hundred texts that will open your mind to the strength of these creative minds merged into one. The book also contains a substantial introduction by author/publisher Carl Abrahamsson.
